The mega ship of the German company Hansa Heavy Lift (HHL) is about to leave from the port of Ortona. It docked last Monday, March 23 to carry one of the largest columns ever manufactured by Walter Tosto SpA: an 87 meters length Ethylene Fractionator C-4330.

In occasion of the important cargo and for the first berth of the ship in Ortona, Walter Tosto’s staff, together with some local authorities, including the Commander of the Port of Ortona Nicola Attanasio, the customs’ responsible of Ortona and Pescara, the Deputy Mayor of Ortona Nadia Di Sipio and the commissioner for public works, Domenico De lure, were welcomed by the captain on the HHL Lagos ship with a guided tour and a welcome buffet.

HHL’s staff explained to the visitors the main procedures and mechanisms for the loading and unloading processes, the security policies and technologies used within the impressive vessel built in 2011, which is almost 170 meters long and 25 meters high.

The loading procedures of the 600 tons Fractionator were successfully completed in the afternoon of March 24 and the HHS Lagos is preparing to say goodbye to the Adriatic coast, directed to Texas, United States of America, where the column signed by Walter Tosto will be delivered.

The teams of both companies have collaborated for the organization of a day that turned out to be memorable for all participants, consolidating the already important Italian-German partnership and providing valuable insights on the importance and the great potential of the port of Ortona.
