Chieti, Italy – March 15th 2018. The inspectors of ITER, Fusion 4 Energy, Italian Institute of Welding, Ansaldo and Tecnatom companies, have been in Walter Tosto’s workshop in order to check the first welding examined with the application of an innovative control technique, on a component being developed for the ITER project.
This method of inspection (Phased Array) is based on the advanced use of ultrasounds and represents a powerful technology in the field of non-destructive testing (NDT), aiming to guarantee the fulfilment of the quality requirements for nuclear components welding.
This is a very effective technique because it allows greater flexibility of inspection, reduces the time and considerably increases the probability of anomalies detection.
