We are pleased to announce an important achievement: the European NexTower project, in which Walter Tosto participates as an industrial partner, obtained the prestigious “Standards + Innovation” award assigned by the European standardization bodies CEN and CENELEC.

NexTower is a research project that aims to overcome the current technical limit for concentrated solar power (CSP) air-based tower, given by the very high temperature, through the use of liquid lead heat exchangers.

It is a safe, competitive and sustainable way to store thermal energy which will then be transformed into process heat or electricity.

For this system Walter Tosto is contributing through the construction of a storage vessel (already delivered) and a main vessel (under construction), in addition to the development of the welding process on a new material (FeCrAl) able to withstand liquid lead very high temperatures.

Congratulations to all the partners in the consortium and in particular to the team that worked on standardization for their excellent work.
