Walter Tosto was invited to attend the seminar entitled "Physics activities of Fusion complementary to ITER in the Research of the Electricity System" as part of a cycle of conferences organized by ENEA. For the occasion, the results of the research on "controlled thermonuclear fusion", which is considered a good option of safe, environmentally friendly and practically inexhaustible energy source, will be presented. Paolo Bonifazi, Business Development Manager at Walter Tosto SpA will participate to the round table scheduled in the program. The open and free event will be held on June 19 in Rome, at ENEA’s center in  via Giulio Romani 41 . The complete program is on-line.
ITER is the most important worldwide project for the development of the nuclear fusion as a viable and sustainable energy source. It is biggest international collaboration in the field of energy, bringing together 50% of the world’s population and 80% of the global GDP. Europe will contribute to almost half of the costs of its construction, while the other six parties (China, Japan, India, the Republic of Korea, the Russian Federation and the USA), will contribute equally to the rest. Fusion for Energy (F4E) is the European Union’s organisation managing Europe’s contribution to ITER. It seat is in Barcelona, Spain.  A few days ago, F4E’s board visited our company’s facilities in order to examine the state of the production of the Vacuum Vessel’s sectors, which…
Italy is one of the first countries in the world in the nuclear research field. In the last three years, Italian companies obtained contracts for more than 900 million euros, about 60% of the value of the European orders for high level technology component manufacturing, related on the international fusion research project Iter, which, for Italy, is coordinated by ENEA. The RAI Television’s crew visited Walter Tosto’s workshops to report the experience of one of the Italian company of excellence working on the research project ITER. In the program "Italy that succeed" (“Quell’Italia che ce la fa” in Italian), Paolo Bonifazi, Business Development Manager, explained how Walter Tosto managed to win the tender for the supply of high-tech components for the important nuclear fusion project managed by the EU organization Fusion 4 Energy.Watch the video
ITER Organization promotes the advancement of the Vacuum Vessel productive activities at Walter TostoWalter Tosto SpA, as part of the European consortium AMW (Ansaldo SpA - Mangiarotti SpA - Walter Tosto SpA) was designated  for the production of seven of the nine sectors of the ITER Vacuum Vessel. After the design and qualification of special processes phases, activities related on the manufacture of the first sector, including hot forming, were started up. In order to celebrate the progress and the success of these processes, the ITER communication department has published a video shot by Patrick Vertongen, ITER Quality Manager, on its web channels, during the supervision of the current activities at WT plant of Chieti. In particular, the video shows the forming of…
The AMW consortium (Ansaldo – Mangiarotti – Walter Tosto) is in charge of the manufacturing of seven sectors of the Vacuum Vessel for the ITER project - www.iter.org, www.fusionforenergy.europa.eu. After the engineering, prototyping and qualification phases, the manufacturing activities finally started. In the first months of production, all the manufacturing processes for the first Vacuum Vessel sector started and significant achievements were reached, such as the machining of approximately one/third of the forged flexible housings and the forming of one/fourth of the double curved shells characterizing the unique shape of the Vessel. The leaders of the AMW consortium - Roberto Adinolfi, CEO of Ansaldo Nucleare, Luca Tosto, Managing Director of Walter Tosto and Josselin Gillot, Managing Director of Mangiarotti -  agreed in saying that: "The…
The activities for the fabrication of the vacuum vessel sectors for the largest international nuclear fusion project ITER are proceeding positively at Walter Tosto, which participates to the project as a member of the AMW (Ansaldo - Mangiarotti - Walter Tosto) consortium. After completing the single components production, the assembly of the segments is taking place. This component concerns the most complex portion of the vacuum vessel and requires high degree of accuracy. The team is demonstrating full commitment to achieve the important goal to be completed at the end of the year.
Fusion for Energy (F4E), the organization managing the European contribution to the Iter project, celebrated its tenth anniversary on November 30th in Barcelona, Spain. The event was attended, among the others, by the Director of Fusion For Energy, Johannes Schwemmer, the representatives of the European institutions and member states, EUROfusion, Iter, industrial partners and research institutions, the King of Spain Felipe VI, the European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Arias Cañete and the mayor of Barcelona. The conference was held with the speeches of the main guests who provided a global vision on all aspects related to nuclear fusion and future activities. The companies of the Tosto Group, Walter Tosto and Belleli Energy CPE, represented respectively by the Managing Director Luca Tosto…
Walter Tosto’s staff is glad for having completed all the Divertor Cassettes prototypes commissioned by Fusion for Energy, the organization managing the European contribution to ITER, assigning the company a protagonist role in the great technological challenge of demonstrating the fabrication feasibility of such components. The ITER Divertor is located at the lower part of the ITER machine and is made of 54 pieces of stainless steel which can be removed, known as Divertor Cassettes, measuring 0.8 x 2.3 x 3.5 m and weighting about 8 tons. In 2014, Fusion for Energy launched a call for the selection of suppliers to check whether they had the skills to manufacture this components with the required quality. Walter Tosto won the tender together with an…
We are proud to announce that Walter Tosto has signed with Fusion 4 Energy (F4E), the EU organization managing the European contribution of the ITER international project, a new contract for the manufacturing of the first cassette bodies for the ITER Divertor, the lower part of the nuclear fusion experimental reactor. This is a new chapter of the ITER project for Walter Tosto, who has been taking part in the program since 2010, suppling some sectors of the Vacuum Vessel, and has now been reconfirmed by Fusion for Energy for the fabrication of the Divertor Cassettes. It will take five years to manufacture these components, which will measure 0.8 x 2.3 x 3.5 meters, with a weight of 8 tons each. Due…
